Singapore #006 - Eight Korean BBQ

Eight Korean BBQ gives you a very strong Korean vibe once you enter into the restaurant. The setting is exactly similar to the BBQ outlets in Korea. Lift up the cushion from the seat and you will be able to put in your bags in it. The TVs are also playing Korean music videos like 2ne1, big bang, beast, BTOB, BAP, Girls Day, etc.

The main highlight of this restaurant is their 8 Flavors Pork Belly (known as Samgyeopsal) - Wine, Original, Ginseng, Garlic, Herb, Curry, Miso, Red Pepper Paste

The 8 Flavor Pork Belly set ($98) also includes a Seafood Bean Paste Stew. But I have requested to change to Pork Belly Kimchi Stew.

In addition, we also ordered one portion of US Prime Short Rib ($38)

Free flow of kimchis. I felt the kimchi were not fermented long enough. We would prefer it more spicy and sour. The beef was really perfect and premium, value for money! *thumbs up*

After the beef, we had the samgyeopsal. The sequence is to eat from the lightest to the strongest taste.

Wine -> Original -> Ginseng -> Garlic -> Herb -> Curry -> Miso -> Red Pepper Paste

My favorite: Herb, Red Pepper Paste, Wine, Miso

My sister had strong craving for cold noodles so it was a must to order!

Indeed, the cold noodles did not disappoint us. It was so refreshing.

FYI... the korean culture is to have a bowl of cold noodles or stew after the session of bbq meats.

Singapore #005 - Patisserie G

I used to work in Suntec City and had been passing by this cafe in Milenia Walk. But never once I have really stepped in. It's a simple deco cafe with around 4-5 tables and just selling cakes.

Since my last visit to Allegretto in Hong Kong, I had been trying to find out if there's any 3D latte art available in Singapore. I stumbled across some blogs and found out there's seems to be one cafe in Singapore that does 3D latte art!

We dropped by on a Wednesday afternoon and it was packed. Luckily, it was really nice gesture of the waiter to offer to give us a call when there were seats available. We waited around 15 mins.

In the menu, there was no mention of 3D Latte Art so we asked the waiter and he said he can try!

Well, we were already there so no harm trying ya.... ordered 3 cups of latte in order with 2 slices of cakes.

This guy trying his best to create some 3D art for our lattes...

Apparently the barista in charge of the 3D arts was on leave so the waiter wanted to practice on his skills and therefore accepted our order request and charged us at normal latte price ($5.50). 

Note that they charged $10 per cup for 3D latte art.

 Lemon Cheesecake ($9) - Combination of the fresh lemon taste, this is not too rich for a cheesecake. The more you eat it, the more you will love it.

G Spot ($9) - Rich chocolate with hazelnut praline. If you are a sweet tooth, you will love it!

Overall, the cakes' texture is smooth and moist. Easy to melt in your mouth and you will just can't stop after having one or two mouth!

Singapore #004 - Symmetry Cafe

My friend's colleague recommended a new cafe for brunch and so we decided to give it a try on one of the Saturdays since I managed to use my dad's car.

I will find it quite inconvenient unless you drive or take a bus. The nearest MRT stations either Lavender or Bugis are quite a distance away. In fact, parking is also a problem as the lots are quite limited. We waited for 10 mins to get a lot.

The cafe was very crowded even it was around 3pm when we got there.

Symmetry Cafe has nice but yet simple deco which I like it very much!

We just love latte art... Ordered Toffee Nut Latte ($6.30) & normal Latte ($5.50)

Truffle Egg Mushroom ($21): Truffle Scrambled Egg, wild mushroom, hashbrown and bread toast with jam

Symmetry Eggs Sur Le Plat ($22): Piquillo puree, poached egg, pork sausages, creamed spinach

Flan ($23): Pork Cheek with Sautéd wild mushroom and poached egg

Pesto($22): Linguine Pasta with Hazelnut Basil Pesto, Poached Egg, Chicken 

The food was very filling despite not very big portions. Symmetry cafe has a dinner menu and liquors served too. I suggest you to pop by especially before you start your day shopping at Haji Lane or want to have a break after you shop at Haji Lane.

Korea #004 - Handel & Gretel [CLOSED]

This cafe is very well-known by Super Junior fans. Yes, this cafe is opened by the parents of Yesung.

You can easily find this small cafe as it is just on the opposite side of the road of KBS building.

It's really a small and cosy cafe

I went in the morning so no one was there except a cute and young waiter...

I only ordered a Green Tea Latte since I am rushing to my office for a meeting.
Green Tea Latte was just average.

Note that the cafe is not on the side facing the park. It's at the back, near to the carpark entrance of KBS building.

Have you ever seen a real sheep in a cafe?

Hiding in the basement of one the buildings in Hongdae, this hidden jem is a place that cannot be missed!

You need to go to the farm now to see sheep now!

P.S. I heard that the sheep return back to the farm once in a while especially during winter time. But no harm popping over when you are just around the Hongdae area!

Shopaholic #002 - I.T. Label

I.T. label from Hong Kong houses many brands like tout a coup, b+ab (endorse by Angelababy), izzue, 5cm, Musium Div, Katie Judith, puzzle, Jeffrey Campbell, etc.

Every year during mid August, I.T. label begins its further reduction sale till 90% in Hong Kong.

It's really a good deal!

I bought this pair of Jeffrey Campbell sandals (Usual Price 1,799HKD, S$295) at 459HKD, S$75.

And I also bought alot of tops from izzue, tout a coup and musium div. average around S$20+ per top.

And just last Saturday after brunch at five & dime, I popped by I.T label in Wisma Atria (Singapore) to check out the sale in Singapore. b+ab, izzue and shoes were having 50% storewide while the rest are at 30%. Additional 20% is given for purchase of minimum 5 items from all brands.

In the end, I bought 3 tops from izzue and 1 top from b+ab. The good deal for this purchase was the pair of puzzle shoes!

Usual Price: $189, Discounted Price: $63.60

Next time when I.T. starts their sales again, keep a look out. You may get good deal anytime! :)

Singapore #003 - Five & Dime

It's nice to meet up with the ladies again since it's been a while since we last met...

I got the car and drove everyone to Five & Dime for brunch...

Parking is convenient... they have quite a few lots just behind the cafe and FREE PARKING!

I called to make a reservation in advance to secure the seats... Place is quite small, maybe about 30 seats
Take note that brunch is served till 3pm only.

Egg Mayo & Bacon Panini ($12): The bread has a soft texture and sweet savory taste

Egg Benny ($16): The potatoes are grilled with some spices, very tasty. The bread and eggs is just perfect combination!

Buttermilk Pancakes ($15): Pancakes go well with the fruits

Overall food is good but price is too steep especially the drinks (Nutella milkshake at $12)

However the promo is a good deal. One for one - Somersby Apple Cider ($12 for 2 bottles)
