Recipe #001: Grilled Marmite Chicken Wings

Grilled Marmite Chicken Wings
Recipe from Munch Ministry

Ingredients
6 chicken wings
1 tbsp Marmite
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
1 tsp Sesame
1 tsp Dark Soy Sauce (for colouring)

Prep and Cooking Instructions
1) Wash and pat dry Chicken Wings. Marinate with all seasonings and chopped garlic for overnight.
2) Arrange the chicken wings (without the marinade) in a pan and grill it in the oven for 8 minutes, flip the wings manually and cook for another 8 minutes.
3) Add some marinade on the chicken wings, letting it caramelize for 2 mins, flip the wings manually and repeat the same for another 2 minutes.

Note: Always observe the grill to avoid overcook. Shorten the time if necessary as cooking time varies between each oven used.

I used LG Convection Oven, MC-8088 to grill the chicken wings.

Singapore #022 Rokeby Bistro

On a sunday evening after our movie at NEX, I brought my parents to a Aussie cafe in one of the private estate area near NEX. Rokeby, situated at Jalan Riang, is only a few shops away from the famous Wimbly Lu.

It was a disappointment that the Vegemite Glazed Chicken was sold out! I came all the way there to have it *sighs* Luckily, they still have the luncheon cheese fingers. The luncheon meat (crispy on the outside and yet soft on the inside) goes really well with the cheese dips.

The smoked salmon caesar salad was served with generous portion of smoked salmon and the smoked salmon  was not too salty. The veggie was also fresh and crunchy that we finished everything on the plate.

The texture spaghetti of Mushroom Aglio Olio was cooked just to our taste, neither too hard nor too soft. It was quite satisfactory for us but I would prefer it too be not so oily.

My dad is a big fan of Kurobuta Pork so I ordered the Kurobuta Pork Belly for him. The skin was cripsy but the meat was very tender. The apple sauce was also very delicious. However, I feel they should replaced the mash potato with some other side dishes.

I like the food here and also the laid back atmosphere, just a perfect place to spend the weekend!

P.S. Waffles are only served till 5pm so come early if you want to try them. Otherwise, you can pop by Wimbly Lu to have some. Another reminder is that parking lots are limited so you might have to park further and walk a distance. Otherwise, you can try the valet services (not sure if it's only available on weekends)

Singapore #021 Nooks House Of Pancakes

On New Year Eve, J couple and I met up for brunch. As one of them is a pancake lover, we decided to try this new place since I read you can DIY your own pancake. It's quite easy to find this place. You just need to know what buses can drop you at Jalan Jurong Kechil and alight opposite Blk19. Along the same stretch as Carpenter and Cook, it is just a block behind the bus stop.

Since I was earlier than the two of them, I practically just snapped every single corner of the cafe.

Finally, we order 2 batters - Original & Chocolate ($10 for each bottle). And we started to show off our drawing skills (which was not beautiful at all but it was really fun!)

We spent 3 hours there making our own pancakes. I will definitely recommend those with young children to bring them to Nooks and have some fun and bonding. Too bad we were too full that we didn't get a chance to test The Addiction (Bailey Pancakes) and The Rainbow Pancakes.
